چکیده

extract: children abuse probably not new phenomena but sever reflection of treble stories in press due to that this issue viewed as a problem which need to special nursing and medical attention.   each person who read new articles may to conclude that children abuse is a phenomenon relevant to twenty century but unfortunately children were abused for centuries. in 16th century a surgeon called felix wurtz documented clear aspects of children abuse. new cognition of medical aspects of children abuse indebted to henry kempe works who mention to some manifestations that caused by brutality with children.

A retrospective case-control study of electively mute children from one city is reported. Eight of 18 children selectively mute in school had suffered definite or probable abuse compared with only one control with a speech or language problem, and no classroom controls. The implications for management are discussed.
